The overall goal of the project was to create a selective collection systems of the wastes arising from computer technology and mobile-telecommunication causing enormous problems both in the European Union, in Hungary and in the other candidate countries. As a result of the proposed project, a unique collection system was implemented in the Central Region of Hungary, while an innovative recycling and processing factory was installed in Hungary's most underdeveloped NE region. The factory operates on 25-30000 tons electronical yearly, where the hazardous waste, second raw material and valueless parts are handled separately. Several (100-150) new job opportunities and alternative income sources were created in a region where the unemployment rate is one of the highest in Hungary. The implementaed technological and social solution is a model that may be applied primarily in the new Member States. |
